DejaVu Fonts 2.26 released

Filed under: Fonts, DejaVu - Eimai @ 17:47 UTC

I finally found some time to make a new release, so here it is: the 2.26 version.

No real major changes have been made so it’s difficult to highlight something, but there were lots of smaller ones including several fixes and many new glyphs, so that makes a major update in the end.

Download them from here.

I’m still wondering when a 3.0 version should be made. We’ve been talking about a 3.0 since 2.9 or so…

Font night

Filed under: Fonts - Eimai @ 17:36 UTC

So what should someone do when he can’t sleep? Creating fonts of course! So this is what I managed to do when the clock struck 4 tonight:

Usually these nightly creations look much worse the day after, but somehow I’m actually quite pleased with this one. So this may perhaps end up as a release one day. Lots of work to do though, so don’t get too excited yet…

By the way, as always I’m looking for a good name. For now it goes by the name of “Code Gothic”, since every font that I make in these experiments gets one that starts with “Code”, which is short for “code name”. The “Gothic” part is just a smart name for sans-serif… All ideas for names are welcome!

Euterpe 1.1

Filed under: Fonts, Euterpe - Eimai @ 11:47 UTC

After neglecting it for a year, I’ve finally done a tiny bit of work on Euterpe again. It’s mainly to fix the degree slash which was seen by me as a combining glyph when I made version 1.0. It also adds the multiple rest symbol which was added in Unicode 5.1 to its proper spot in the musical symbols block. There are a few minor fixes for wrong outline directions as well.

The font can be downloaded at the Open Font Library.

DejaVu already supports tabs

Filed under: Fonts, DejaVu, Fun - Eimai @ 2:36 UTC

Good news: DejaVu is Gnome 3.0 ready! U+21B9 (↹) has been in all our fonts for ages now, together with U+21E4 (⇤) and U+21E5 (⇥) so you can safely keep DejaVu as your default font in Gnome 3.0!
